Codachrom is an electronic project formed in 2012 by Miguel A.Ruiz from Madrid and Eugene Voronovski from Moscow. Miguel A.Ruiz began to stand out at the beginning of the 80s with several aliases, the best known being Orfeón Gagarin. He also stood out for his own cassette label, Toracic Tapes, where he published his own works. In 1991 he released his first album, Encuentros en la Tercera Edad, produced by Asmus Tietchens. Since then he has been unstoppable on various labels: Geometric Splendor, Alternative Line, Menstrual Recordings…
Eugene Voronovski is a recognized artist in the current Russian electronic scene. Cisfinitum is one of his most recognized works within the industrial-drone-ambient music. With Miguel A. Ruiz he already collaborated in 2007 editing the cd Ornaments.
Codachrom was created thanks to the exchange of sound files between the two artists, they used for this: rhythm boxes and analog synthesizers, modified video game consoles, vocoder and the violin processed by Eugene. Computers have only been used in sound editing but not in composition, which gives a touch of the krautrock style of the 70s and the techno-pop of the 80s. It was published by Esplendor Geométrico in 10″ brown vinyl format and consists of 6 tracks that will make our day.
It is inspired by the lunar craters located in the dark part, mainly the great Tsiolkovski crater.
