Semantica’s catalogue has exceeded an important milestone of one hundred releases and the label is stepping into the next centenary by launching a split series, the first EP coming from creative minds of two ladies. The A-side is a celebration of fertile subcultural (under)ground around Bassiani with two tracks by Ana Kublashvili aka Newa, from Tbilisi in Georgia. Her tripping “Total Performance” is an efficient club tool, with deep bass line, sulfuric sequences and spoken word in Georgian. The title of “One” is vocalised with a repetitive sample and offers an urban nocturnal view with hovering chords, the best drum part coming only at the very end.

Many may remember Mariska Neerman from her strong contribution to a split release with DJ Stingray 313 and the Belgian artist is showing her skills again. “Juno” takes off with swerving synth line and adopts classic stabs between Sheffield and Detroit. Appearing first as a dreamer’s tale, “Jupiter” is of not too soft fabric in a company of electro aesthetics. (Text by Terminal 313 )
